Position Summary:  The McAuley Studies Coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Principal for Curriculum, College and School Counseling Office, McAuley Studies Teachers, Accommodation Review Team, and ESCNJ personnel, to help Notre Dame Students with mild learning differences develop strategies necessary to meet their academic challenges and acquire the skill to succeed academically. The McAuley Studies Coordinator is a member of the Principal's Team and is supervised by the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assures special services testing accommodations and coordination with testing organizations.
  • Oversees student accommodation plans.
  • Oversees the ISP process and implementation.
  • Communicates and coordinates with ESCNJ.
  • Mediates the resolution of issues and concerns that may arise between parents, students, teachers and school counselors in regards to student accommodations and support services.
  • Oversees implementation of the McAuley program at Notre Dame, which includes but is not limited to ISPs, Accommodation Plans, McAuley Academy, and ESCNJ chapter 192/193, and student support services at Notre Dame.
  • SSD Coordinator for College Board.
  • Provides guidance to faculty in the McAuley Studies Program on individualized basic skills, research-based study strategies, and self-advocacy remediation.
  • Coordinates with the Accommodation Plan team to develop individualized accommodation plans for students.
  • Monitors the progress of students with identified learning differences and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to learning.
  • Reads and synthesizes psycho-educational evaluations
  • Communicates and provides faculty with materials and guidance to support/accommodate different learning styles.
  • Collaborates with classroom, teachers, school counselors, parents and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Leads, seeks out, and takes part in professional development opportunities related to best practices in special education instruction.
  • Attends and contributes to Student Personnel, Curriculum Council, New Teacher meetings, NonPublic meetings.
  • Facilitates McAuley Academy meetings.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in Special Education. Experience on a Child Study team is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years successful experience as a special education teacher or a professional license and certification as either LDTC, School Psychologist, or LSW.
  • Extensive knowledge of disabilities and their impact on students and learning.

  • Personal qualities including flexibility, resilience, approachability, and kindness.
  • Excellent technology skills and experience with digitizing service plans.
