A LEARNS proposal from Arkansas Governor Huckabee Sanders would raise Arkansas' starting teacher salary to $50,000, while a bill introduced by Frederica Wilson and Jamaal Bowman in Congress would provide incentives for states to raise teacher salaries to $60,000, among other measures. Some conservative state governors are proposing to increase teacher pay, but some teachers and education policy experts wonder if the increases will be sustainable long-term.
